At Dusk: Basilica Santa Maria della Salute
The Bridge of Sighs is a white limestone bridge in Venice, Italy. It connects the New Prison to the interrogation rooms in the Doge's Palace and crosses the Rio di Palazzo. Designed by Antonio Contino and built in 1600, the bridge is named after the last view of Venice that convicts saw before their imprisonment. In culture, numerous other bridges around the world have been nicknamed after the Bridge of Sighs. |
